Åstrandtest
Goal: measure aerobe endurance capacity
The Åstrandtest is a sub maximum test for calculating your aerobe endurance capacity. This test is best suited for endurance athletes and novice cyclists. The aerobe capacity will be measured through a 6-minute test, therefore you can expect that after 5 minutes the body will resume a "steady-state". During the test the cadence has to be 80/90 rpm. During minute 6 your heart-rate should be almost regular (steady-state). With the average heart-rates in minute 5 and 6 it is possible to estimate your VO2max. The heart-rate should not differ more than five beats per minute. After the test the results has to be filled out the form and the result will be calculated automatically.
Attention: there could be a difference of 10 à 15 % on the acquired VO2max-value.
Explanation on results
The computer calculated the amount of oxygen you can take (per milliliter) per minute and per kilogram of bodyweight. Compare your VO2MAX in table below. Endurance training results in an overall lower heart-rate producing the same power. That is the training effect we are aiming for.
