Bushido computer & brake
The Bushido update consists of 2 parts. The Bushido brake firmware and the Bushido computer firmware. We recommend you provide both products with the most recent versions of the software in order to be able to use the latest functionalities and improvements.
Both versions of the software should be up to date at all times. Updating can be done in two ways:
NB! In order to be able to execute updates for the Bushido brake and computer firmware you need to possess the Tacx USB ANT stick and corresponding Tacx Trainer software. These are supplied in the T1990 Upgrade PC Bushido
VIA ONLINE UPDATE (recommended).
Once the Tacx Trainer software has been started up, the Bushido computer will be recognized automatically. Important! The Bushido computer must be turned on. Then the firmware must first be updated in order to bring about correct interaction with the software. Via the software's INTRO field a picture of the Bushido with the version of the firmware next to it will appear under CONNECTED DEVICES. A DOWNLOAD button is also visible.

Follow the instructions below to update the firmware
- Push the DOWNLOAD button in the Tacx Trainer software and follow the instructions provided by the installation program.
- Make sure that the distance between the Bushido brake and computer and the PC (USB ANT stick) is as small as possible during the updating process. This will help prevent interference during updating.
- Avoid shocks and movement in the Bushido brake or computer during updating
- Keep cycling during updating of the Bushido brake. This will help to avoid losing the connection between the Bushido and the handlebar mounted computer.
- After updating the firmware you should always connect the Bushido brake to the computer through the screen SETTINGS -> LINKING THE BRAKE. Then check if the correct version numbers are shown in the Bushido computer's display.
What to do when the update program freezes?
- When the green progress bar freezes during the updating process, the updating itself has frozen and you should interrupt the process altogether.
- The problem then is that the Bushido computer will remain in the update mode and the display can no longer be read.
- Take the batteries out of the Bushido computer and reinsert them. You will hear a beep indicating start up.
- Then follow the instructions from the manual update hereunder.

Update Bushido computer 0.5.4
Size: 180 KB
Date: 17-01-2011
Outline of the most important changes in these versions
- The virtual flywheel adjustment has been made faster, the flywheel effect was increased and a different adjustment of the braking effect has been implemented, brake adjustment at lower speeds has been adapted.
- It has become easier to overcome the "point of inertia" at a high resistance by speeding up due to a faster reaction of the brake. Thus the impression of pedalling "square" is much reduced.
- When riding up steep inclines at low pedalling frequency virtual speed is applied, making it possible to ride up the incline at all times.
- Thanks to the fact that adjustment steps in quicker, the chance of loss of connection between brake and computer has been diminished and therefore there will be less interference during cycling.
